The Rustic Inn in Abbeyshrule, Longford, faces a delay in its expansion plans due to a planning appeal lodged with An Coimisiún Pleanála.
The guesthouse aimed to add five en-suite bedrooms and an elevator to address a shortage of tourism accommodation in the region. Local resident Peter Rooney raised concerns about sunlight access, wastewater capacity, and potential property devaluation.
Longford County Council had approved the plans in August 2025, subject to 12 conditions.
A final decision on the appeal is expected by 21 January 2026.
