Making Tracks, a low carbon slow tourism enterprise in Ballybrophy, Co. Laois, has opened for bookings in 2025 and 2026.

The project received €250,000 in funding from Fáilte Ireland’s Regenerative Tourism and Placemaking Scheme, co-funded by the Government and the EU Just Transition Fund.

The former Ballybrophy House has been restored into an Irish Country House Hostel adjacent to Ballybrophy train station. Five glamping units have been constructed as part of the development. Horse-drawn wagon experiences have been created throughout south Laois.

Angela McEvoy Director of Services , Laois County Council shared: “I am delighted to see the opening of Making Tracks, a fantastic addition to the varied tourism offering in County Laois, particularly in the west of the County and in such close proximity to Ballybrophy Train Station, one of two Age-friendly Stations within the Country.”
