The US based National Business Aviation Association has welcomed the draft decision of the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) to maintain access to Dublin Airport for general aviation and business aircraft operations.
The decision came in response to a proposal by the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) to restrict nonscheduled, “ad hoc” GA flights to comply with an annual passenger limit of 32 million, potentially impacting the industry’s contribution of €1bn to the Irish economy and over 2,000 jobs.
NBAA welcomed the IAA decision, which is says recogmises the economic importance of GA operations and supporting continued access for business aviation in Dublin and the surrounding region.
Despite the exemption for GA traffic movements from the current capacity limit at DUB, the IAA noted that the review of applicability for future seasons would continue, with an acknowledgment of the minimal impact on overall operations at the airport.
