Qantas has said it will fulfil its obligations to customers after it mistakenly sold first-class flights at significantly reduced prices due to a coding error, allowing around 300 passengers to book flights between Australia and the US at up to 85pc off.
The error occurred for about eight hours before being rectified, with passengers believing they had secured first-class tickets with exclusive amenities such as airport lounges, premium seating, and more.
Qantas acknowledged the mistake and offered affected customers the option to fly business-class at no extra cost or receive a full refund, as per their terms and conditions for incorrect fare display.
Despite the downgrade to business-class, passengers would still pay 65pc less than the usual fare, with some customers expressing satisfaction with the unexpected opportunity.
