A survey commissioned by the Higher Education Authority of students on Erasmus has found that 80pc of those Erasmus students surveyed, staying in Ireland, had at least one visitor. Using Failte Ireland estimates of the average tourist’s spend, Erasmus students’ visitors may contribute as much as €14m to economy. France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands contribute the most visitors
Belmond Grand Hibernian luxury train broke down on its first journey. The issue was revealed to be a problem with a door on one of the carriages and the train was taken to Drogheda for repair works, while the passengers continued to Belfast by road.
