Dublin will serve as the venue for Rotary International’s convention in June 2031, drawing attention to Ireland’s role in global community service initiatives. The event, planned for the Royal Dublin Society, anticipates attracting up to 20,000 attendees from various countries. A collaborative bid from 67 Rotary clubs across Ireland, backed by Fáilte Ireland and the RDS, secured the hosting rights.

Projections indicate the convention could inject approximately €68m into the Irish economy through visitor spending and related activities. Rotary International revealed past conventions featured speakers such as Bill Gates and Antonio Guterres, setting expectations for high-profile discussions. The gathering emphasises Rotary’s focus on health, education, and environmental projects worldwide.

Ireland’s Rotary history dates back to 1911 with the founding of Dublin Rotary Club as the first outside North America. Local projects include Bikes for Africa and Just 1 Life road safety programme for teenagers. Enterprise Minister Peter Burke confirmed a 34 percent rise in visitor numbers in December, signalling positive trends for tourism.

Garth Arnold shared “Rotary in Ireland has a long and proud history of service. Dublin Rotary Club, founded in 1911, was the first Rotary club established outside North America. Yet we have never hosted the international convention. Bringing this global gathering to Ireland has been a long-held ambition of our members, and we are looking forward to realising it in 2031.”
