Qantas Group has settled a class action lawsuit over pandemic related travel credits for AUSD105m equivalent to €75m without admitting liability.
The case involves passengers whose flights from January 2020 to November 2022 received credits instead of cash refunds. Subject to Federal Court of Australia approval the payout occurs in the second half of 2026 nearly double the previously set aside amount. Passengers claim Qantas breaches obligations by offering credits rather than cash for cancelled services during the pandemic.
The settlement resolves claims from the period of widespread flight cancellations. Qantas Group shared the settlement of the class action lawsuit for one hundred and five million Australian dollars.
