Wells Food Fest returns for its third edition on Sunday, 13 July 2025, at Wells House & Gardens, a historic estate near Ballyedmond, 18km from Gorey. Organised by the Wells House & Gardens team, this one-day festival showcases local and international food, live music, and family activities. Visitors can expect a relaxed day of culinary exploration and entertainment, with tickets available via www.wellshouse.ie or by calling +353 53 918 6737.
The Wells Food Fest was launched in 2023 by the Wells House & Gardens management, building on the estate’s reputation as a family-friendly attraction
The festival was created to complement the estate’s annual events, such as the Classic Car Show and Teddy Bear’s Picnic, and to highlight Wexford’s culinary scene. Held on the 450-acre Victorian estate, designed by architect Daniel Robertson in the 1830s, the festival utilises the historic grounds, including the Terraced Garden and woodlands, to create a unique setting. Since its inception, it has grown as a summer event, attracting families and food enthusiasts from across the southeast, with free entry for Wells House & Gardens Annual Members.
Running from 10:00am to 5:00pm, the festival offers a diverse programme of food, music, and activities. Visitors can explore a range of food vendors serving global cuisines, including Caribbean, Korean, falafel, crepes, tacos, Chinese, Texas BBQ, and Italian dishes, alongside gluten-free and dairy-free waffles. Local producers will sell homemade bakes, cakes, marinades, chutneys, relishes, preserves, and cooking sauces. Cookery demonstrations with Caribbean and Indian influences are scheduled, featuring local chefs sharing culinary techniques.
Live music will feature throughout the day, with performers to be announced closer to the date. Past events suggest a mix of local bands and solo artists. The craft village will showcase jewellery, plants, hand-stitched home decor, and books. Family activities include the Fairytale Fun Train, a ride through the arboretum where children can meet characters from stories and films, ending with a trip on the Wells Express Train. The estate’s animal farm, adventure playground, and fairy and Gruffalo woodland walks are accessible with standard entry, offering additional entertainment for younger visitors.
The festival is held across the Wells House grounds, with food stalls around the roundabout and craft stalls in the Craft Courtyard, converted from the estate’s old stables. No camping is available, but self-catering Courtyard Cottages on-site provide accommodation. Visitors are advised to book tickets online (€12 for adults, €8 for children, free for under 2s) to access the festival and estate attractions. Public transport is limited, so driving is recommended, with parking available on-site.
The festival encourages cash for smaller vendors, though card payments are accepted at major stalls. Road closures are not expected, but visitors should check www.wellshouse.ie for updates, especially for weather-dependent outdoor activities.
The festival is accessible, with wheelchair-friendly paths across the estate. Attendees should allow 2-3 hours to explore the festival and grounds. Food and drink stalls will cater to various dietary needs, and the estate’s café offers additional dining options. The Wells Food Fest 2025 provides a practical day out, combining food, crafts, and family entertainment in a historic setting.
