Aer Lingus CEO Lynne Embleton says that the airline has experienced no reduction in passenger demand on US routes for 2025, and says that bookings have increased.

Central Statistics Office (CSO) data showed 441,200 foreign visitors to Ireland in March, a 15 per cent drop compared to the same month last year, which Ms Embleton questioned.

IAG, the parent company of Aer Lingus, announced new orders for 32 Boeing 787-10s for British Airways and 21 Airbus A330neo planes for its brands, including Aer Lingus.

Despite a reported operating loss of €55 million for Q1 2025, Aer Lingus demonstrated an improvement compared to an €82 million loss in Q1 2024.

The airline maintains strong demand in its core markets and is optimistic about growth supported by the addition of new aircraft to its fleet.

Lynne Embleton shared “Passenger numbers were up in Q1 [the first three months of 2025],” shared Lynne Embleton. What we see doesn’t match [the CSO data]and our suspicion is there is something quirky in the data. The Q1 performance builds upon the underlying momentum seen in the business from 2024,”
