United Airlines claims an industry first with the launch of a debit card allowing UK holders to earn mileage points and other benefits with a US carrier.
The United Airlines Debit Card which carries a 175 pound annual subscription bears the Mastercard logo and is in partnership with Currensea and can be linked to any existing UK bank account.
Cardholders earn two miles for every 3 pounds spent on card purchases within the UK and Europe and four miles for every 3 pounds spent outside Europe or directly with United Airlines.
The card includes a welcome mileage bonus and can help users accelerate their path to MileagePlus Premier status with the ability to earn up to 2 000 Premier Qualifying Points annually.
From 2 April holders of eligible United branded credit or debit cards benefit from accelerated mileage earning when booking flights as well as discounts of 10pc or more on award tickets and access to exclusive Saver Award fares.
