Ethiopian Airlines has resumed scheduled flights to three airports in the Tigray region on 3 February 2026 after a brief suspension prompted by security concerns.
Services restarted to Makale with two Boeing 737-8 aircraft, to Indaselassie with two DHC-8-Q400s, and to Axum with one DHC-8-Q400, according to ADS-B tracking data. The carrier had paused operations to the northern destinations the previous week amid demonstrations in towns including Makale between 25 and 27 January.
The resumption restores connectivity to the region following the ceasefire implementation. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for restraint and peaceful resolution of disputes in Tigray.
