The historic Malone Lodge Hotel in South Belfast has reopened as The Malone following a multi-million euro transformation into a luxury boutique property. The revamped hotel officially welcomed guests from 6 February 2026, marking a fresh phase for the landmark site in the Queen’s Quarter. The project created 20 new jobs and strengthened ties with local suppliers.

The property gained recognition after featuring as the sole Northern Ireland entry in The Times list of the 24 best new hotels in the UK for the year ahead. Upgrades cover the entire site, including the Greyhound Bar, Gallery restaurant, redesigned lounge and reception, panoramic suites, and art installations reflecting Belfast’s heritage. A high-calibre team now leads operations, with Chris Lockhart appointed as general manager.

Gareth Macklin shared “After months of meticulous planning and hard work, seeing the final designer touches in place is incredibly rewarding. We have moved beyond the traditional hotel model to create a private sanctuary at the heart of the Queen’s Quarter. This opening marks the beginning of a new legacy for our team and for Belfast’s hospitality scene. We can’t wait to welcome our first guests through the doors this weekend.” Chris Lockhart shared “It is a privilege to join the team at The Malone at such a pivotal moment in the hotel’s history. We have worked tirelessly to ensure every detail, from the redesigned guest rooms to the new Gallery restaurant, is ready to welcome our first guests this weekend.”
