The Dylan Hotel and the Pembroke Road Association have lodged objections to plans for a 100-bedroom Raglan Townhouse hotel on Baggot Street Upper, citing concerns over its height and potential overshadowing.

The proposal includes a café and bar but has raised issues related to the quality of amenities and sunlight access for nearby hotels and residences.

Objectors emphasise the impact of the hotel on local infrastructure and the community’s residential character, and say the area already has a saturated hotel market.

A decision from Dublin City Council is expected next month regarding the planning application.

According to a study by Mitchell McDermott, 2,600 new hotel rooms were added in the Dublin region during 2023. The tourism industry reckons the city needs 3,500 more hotel rooms.
