- Drumcliffe Churchyard (St. Columba’s Church) – The poet and Nobel laureate William Butler Yeats is buried here, his grave marked by the famous epitaph: Cast a cold Eye On Life, on Death. Horseman, pass by. The body was reinterred here on n September 17, 1948 having been brought from France. Due to delays caused by WWII, his original remains were moved into a shared ossuary in France. When exhumed in 1948, it is believed the bones collected may not have been solely or entirely Yeats’.
